The Brooklyn Bridge, an iconic suspension bridge linking Manhattan and Brooklyn, is a vital piece of New York City’s history and culture, serving over 150,000 travelers daily. Renowned for its Neo-Gothic stone towers and pointed arches, the bridge was slated for a major multi-year rehabilitation project.
PULLMAN was entrusted to perform the masonry restoration, which was divided into two phases. Phase one addressed the restoration of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Towers, as well as the Brooklyn Approach, while phase two focused on the Manhattan Approach.
To ensure continuous public access, the bridge remained operational throughout the repairs. Materials and equipment were transported via barges to minimize disruption and ensure smooth logistics.
Preserving the historical integrity of this iconic structure was of utmost importance. PULLMAN leveraged its expertise to honor this heritage, sourcing specialized materials that closely matched the original to maintain the bridge’s authentic appearance.
With the completion of the masonry restoration, PULLMAN has revitalized this historic landmark, ensuring that it will remain a treasured symbol of New York for generations to come.
